I have an image in GeoTiff format (300+ Mb). Desire to include it like background of a esri/shapefile opening just a window (as openwindow).
I can do this?
I can convert the tiff to another format soon to do it?

The geotiff is not available for the moment. The only was is to convert it to an RST or IMG (idrisi) image format. First of all just a questions: is you image 24 bit or just 256 colors, or is it in grey scale?

Pedro my GeoTiff is a grey scale image (18706 x 20491, 1m=1px, 374.482 Kb).

My friends of Universidad de Buenos Aires can convert my GeoTiff to IMG. When I have the converted file I will test it.

Daniel I am a new comer to inovaGIS and I am trying to use GeoTiff in the same way. I have done some testing with GeoTiff files.
I used IDRISI32 to convert the file to RST unfortunately it did not work.
I sent Pedro some details of the result by email and will forward to you.

Do anyone know how to read tiff format file and extract the information which contain in each pixel? i've a scanned topographic map, which is using 24 bit rgb and 300 dpi. i'd like to find some source code, especially in C to read the pixel from the tif image abd extract the information. Do anyone can help me?

Have a look at http://www.libtiff.org/ (The library, along with associated tool programs, should handle most of your needs for reading and writing TIFF images on 32- and 64-bit machines)
