Camargue (France) January 1994
During the first weeks of January, while the water was
receding from another big flooding in Germany, the heavy
rainfall together with the snow melt in the Alps, caused
a dangerous rise in water level of the Rhône river in
the South-East of France in the Camargue region. ERS-1 satellite
was able to acquire data before, during and after the
flooding. Using images from the Fast Delivery SAR
multitemporal covering the estuary of the Rhône river,
this inovaGIS/GIServer project enable the user to make
color composit of the different dates to assess the
different water content of the region during the time range of the images.
